Manager – Lesley Gilbey:
Lesley has had over 25 years experience as a gymnastics coach. Lesley holds accreditation’s in Acrobatics, Men’s Gymnastics, Kindergym, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, Trampoline Sports, General Gymnastics, and is an accredited Assessor & Presenter with Gymnastics NSW. Lesley is registered with Sporting Schools as a Coach.
As well as being a Judge for Gymnastics. In 2014 she was recognised by the Central Coast Sports Federation for Outstanding Service to Central Coast sport.
Although Lesley doesn’t spend much time coaching face to face these days, she does spend a lot of her time lecturing and presenting courses and assessing to help others on their coaching journeys.
Head Artistic and IL Coach – Cody Moore:
Cody has had 30 years of gymnastics experience. He started training in the United States at 4 years of age and has never left the sport. Along the way, Cody was a 3 time US Champion and member of the US Senior National Team. Cody was coached by such greats as Valeri Lukin
During his years as an elite gymnast, Cody also competed in many international competitions including the World Championships, where the team received a silver medal. He was also an apparatus champion at the World University Games and the Pan-American Games.
He first started coaching at 15 years of age and was able to learn from 2 different US Olympic Team coaches (Barry Weiner and Terry Gray). From his broad personal experiences, Cody has developed a sound professional coaching style that allows individual gymnasts to reach their full potential.
He has had numerous successful athletes in the US, including the level 10 US Junior All Around Champion, level 10 US Uneven Bars champion, and level 9 & 10 US Floor Champions.
Cody and his wife Sara, now live in Australia with their young son Rylan and new baby Kaiden. Cody has taken a coaching position here at Gosford Gymnastics and is currently coaching Women’s Artistic Gymnastics. Cody introduced an International Gymnastics program here at Gosford which is flourishing. He now trains our international gymnasts from level 10 to Senior International. He is excited to bring his coaching style to Australia and help build a strong program with the girls at Gosford Gymnastics.
Specialist Artistic Coach – Rebecca Stoyel:
Rebecca has amazing qualifications as an Artistic Women’s coach. She represented Australia at both World and Commonwealth Games. Rebecca was a member of the Australian team from 1991 to 1996 and competed in many national and international competitions. Competing in the 1994 Commonwealth Games, Rebecca won Gold on the Women’s Uneven Bars and scored Silver for all around with her team receiving a Bronze medal.
Rebecca has been coaching gymnastics for ten years with three of them at the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS). Rebecca has coached both International and National gymnasts and in recent years coached and performed in Japan. Rebecca is coaching along side Cody with our IL gymnasts; she specialises in Beam and Floor work. We are very pleased to have Rebecca as one of our fantastic coaches.
Dance Teacher – Melinda Goodwin:
Melinda is a classical dance specialist. Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) trained, Melinda began her career in dance as soloist for Sydney City Ballet Co.
Melinda has coached national and elite level artistic and rhythmic gymnasts in classical dance technique for over 30 years. She has coached at numerous clubs in NSW and trained some of Australia’s top international level gymnasts at the AIS.
Melinda traveled to the United States to work as classical coach & choreographer for Utah State University’s nationally ranked women’s gymnastics program.
Melinda has choreographed floor routines for members of the Australian Women’s Olympic Team, which were performed at the games in Seoul and Barcelona.
As classical dance specialist for Gosford Gymnastics, Melinda works with gymnasts to teach correct body alignment, safe technique, classical line, expression and poise.
WAG Coach – Kate Gilbey:
Kate has been coaching since she retired from a sound career of competition in both Women’s Artistic & Acrobatics. For the past 6 years, Kate has been coaching our very successful Acrobatics team having teams compete successfully at a National level for many years and has moved on to developing the younger gymnasts moving into the international program.
Kate holds accreditation as a coach in Acrobatics, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, Gym for All, and Kindergym. Kate is also a qualified Judge for Women’s Artistic Gymnastics and regularly judges for the club at competitions.
Kate is also our Display Teams choreographer and under her coaching, the team was awarded National Champions for their item in the Gym 4 Life Challenge 2014.
Acrobatics Coach – Alana Horton:
Alana has been associated with Gosford Gymnastics for many years; Alana started as a gymnast and then changed disciplines from Artistic to Acrobatics until her retirement.
Alana coaches our acrobats and also works with our Kindergym program. Alana holds accreditation in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, is registered to coach Sporting Schools and is also a qualified Artistic Judge.
Kindergym & WAG Coach – Katie Ribet:
Katie has been interested in gymnastics for many years. Katie also has a daughter who is a keen acrobat, and through of her involvement in the sport, Katie has become an accredited Kindergym and Artistic Coach coach.
Katie works with our young pre-school aged children and has a real passion for the little ones. Katie has a real talent of sourcing new and interesting ideas to keep her classes both educational and challenging. In the afternoons Katie changes her coaching hat to take our Development and level 2 girls.
Her dedication and enthusiasm to her work make Katie a valued member of staff and a real asset to the Kindergym and Artistic program.
WAG Coach – Mychal Allanson:
Mychal is a retired gymnast having competed very successfully at a very high level of artistic gymnastics. Mychal is an Advanced accredited coach and is currently working with our high-level competition girls, As well as attending Uni, Myki gains great pleasure passing on her knowledge and experience to our younger gymnasts.
WAG Coach – Josine Price:
Josine has been associated with gymnastics for many years having had both her daughters as Artistic gymnasts.
Josine coaches our Level 5/6 high-level National gymnasts. She has had wonderful success taking her young gymnasts from beginners through to competition levels. Josine holds accreditation in both Women’s Artistic Gymnastics and Kindergym. She is also registered as a Sporting Schools Coach.
WAG Coach – Joplin Vertigan-Tatterton:
Joplin is an intermediate coach and is currently coaching our level 4/5 and level 2 groups. Joplin trained and competed as a high-level gymnast and spent some time training at NICA (National Institute of Circus Arts) Joplin runs our Adult classes and well as the WG classes from level 2 through to level 5.
MAG Head Coach – Chelsea Smith:
Chelsea is currently coaching our boy’s program and has had great success in growing this discipline. Chelsea holds her Intermediate accreditation and is studying to sit her Advanced level in MG. She also holds accreditation in FreeG (Parkour). Chelsea coaches many school groups as well as our junior gym fun programs under the Launchpad scheme. Chelsea trained as a high-level gymnast in England and has settled in Australia where she enjoys passing on her knowledge to our young gymnasts. Chelsea is also an MG judge.
Kindergym and MAG Coach – Emma Cashmore:
Emma has had a long association with Gosford gymnastics being a competitive gymnast with us in her childhood. Emma is now a mum herself with 2 young girls of her own, one of who is training in our development squad. Emma has been coaching Kindergym for many years and is a very valued team member. Emma coaches our young development boys.
Trampoline Coach – Colin Woodbridge:
Colin has been associated with the sport for many years and has his Advanced accreditation. Colin is our head coach for Trampoline Sports and is also accredited in Acrobatics, Gym For All and FreeG (Parkour). Colin is also a qualified Trampoline judge. Colin has a real appreciation of gymnastics as a sport which enhances children’s development and works with many of our disability groups. Colin is also registered with Sporting School as a coach.
WAG Coach – Tahnee Barnes:
Tahnee is assisting with our younger members of the Artistic Squads. She was a high-level competitive gymnast and is continuing her association with the sport in a coaching capacity. Tahnee holds Intermediate accreditation with the Gymnastics Association
WAG Coach – Shanaye Mcnamara:
Shanaye has attained her Intermediate Accreditation and coaches our Gymfun, Senior Recreational and NL2 classes.Shanaye also coaches some of the many school groups both in the gym and out at the schools. Having previously trained as a gymnast, Shanaye enjoys coaching gymnastics as well as being one of our Birthday party leaders.
WAG Beginner Coach – Isabelle Govind-Aley:
Belle works along side our other coaches teaching gymnastics to many groups including Gym fun, Schools, Levels 1-3 and boys groups.
WAG Beginner Coach – Amelia Fist:
Millie, as she is known to children, coaches our gym fun and Level 1 & 2 gymnasts as well as school groups. Millie is a very valued member of staff who always has a bright smile and loves working with the younger gymnasts.
WAG Beginner Coach – Tamasin Curtis:
Tamasin has attained Beginner Coach accreditation and coaches along side our more senior coaches being mentored and gaining more knowledge. Tasmin also attended the Gym NSW LEAP camp for young leaders 2017.
WAG Trainee Coach – Madison Luff:
Madison is still attending school and training gymnastics as well as coaching in her free afternoons. Maddi loves gymnastics and is very passionate about her coaching & sport.
WAG Trainee Coach – Mackenzie Sivyer:
Mack as she is called coaches with Joplin taking the level 4/5 Artistic class. Mackenzie also trains several days per week in the Acrobatic class.
Acrobatics Judge – Jason Sivyer:
Jason started his judging pathway when his 2 daughters commenced Acrobatic Gymnastics. Jason has continued to achieve higher levels of Judging accreditation and his continued support of the gymnasts, coaches and club is greatly appreciated.
Women’ Artistic Judge – Rebecca Curtis:
Rebecca is now Judging on behalf of Gosford Gymnastics at Level 1-3 competitions. Rebecca is a valued member of our team and has a daughter in the Artistic Program.
Women’s Artistic Judge – Stefanie Harker:
Stef has been very interested in Judging since her daughter started a career in gymnastics. Stef is a valued member of our Judging team and we appreciate her talents and the time she dedicated to our gym as a judge; we welcome her to our gym family.
Men’s Judge – Paula Hayes:
As well as being a qualified MG Judge, Paula is also a qualified gymnastics coach and is a mum of one of our High-level boy gymnasts. Paula has a real passion for the sport of gymnastics and has many years of experience behind her. Paula regularly gives up her weekends throughout the busy calendar to judge at the many competitions our male gymnasts attend. We are very lucky to have Paula as one of our Judging team.
